‘Dangal’ box office collection day 1: Film collects Rs 29.78 cr, can this be Aamir Khan’s biggest hit till date?
The actor has taken the box-office by storm with his latest
release 'Dangal', which hit theatres on Friday, December 23. The wrestling
drama, which released across 4000 plus screens in India, opened on a strong
note as it registered collections of Rs 29.78 crore on Day One, including Rs 59
lakh from its Tamil and Telugu versions. Dangal has
collected Rs 29.78 crores on first day. The film is expected to cross Rs 100
crores in first weekend. The Aamir starrer has become the second highest opener of the
year - interestingly, 'Sultan' which saw the highest opening with Rs 36.59
crore, is also a wrestling drama.
The film is soaring high with all appreciation and love that it
is getting from the audience. The audience was awaiting this Aamir Khan movie inspired by real-life wrestler
Mahavir Singh Phogat’s life and the love is showing at box office. The film has
got tremendous advance booking and Friday, despite being a working day, saw
packed theatres. Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh announced that morning shows opened
to packed houses. The film saw around over 75% occupancy during morning shows,
which is terrific. Will demonetisation effect this Aamir Khan film, especially
in single-screen theatres? That is a question which will be answered in a day’s
time. But, as of now, the film is doing spectacularly, including in the
international market.
The question that looms large now is whether 'Dangal' will go
on to become the biggest hit of the year or will it come a close second to
Salman's 'Sultan'. Guess we'll have to wait and watch.
